You did your nails while sitting on the floor and now there is this huge mess on the carpet? Well, spilling nail polish on a carpet is a pretty common scenario which means that there are hacks people have discovered when it comes to cleaning up the stains – and today, I will show you one of my favourite hacks for removing nail polish stains!
And no – we won’t be using any commercial cleaners or stain removers, we only need one household ingredient you already have in your home (that is super inexpensive)!
You will need rubbing alcohol – it’s my secret ingredient to removing such stubborn stains. Pour a small amount of the liquid right onto the stained area and let it sit for at least minutes.
Next, get a rag and start scrubbing the stain. This part might take a few minutes, however, it will work in the end. I know some people will be worried that all the scrubbing will drive the nail polish deeper into the fabric – and this is the case with any other stain, however, since nail polish dries and it’s not that liquid, you can scrub it out without any consequences!
Once you remove the stains, you need to rinse the area. Grab a cloth and dampen it with cold water then gently blot the area then let it air-dry!
